Description

Tom Stiles. Affluent Businessman, Adrenalin buff, devoted father, Black Ops Agent.
The first of the Tom Stiles Spy Thriller series, explores one man’s journey from family man and fraud investigator to elite Black Ops covert agent. Although predominately set against urban Sydney, Australia backdrops, Stiles confronts the encroaching world of international crime and conceit.
Tom Stiles, the protagonist in BANG AND BURN, is a complex man and certainly not your typical family man. A business man with two successful tours in Afghanistan, is well-equipped with an impressive military hand-to-hand combat set of skills, is also a volunteer firefighter.
Tom’s life has been profoundly affected by the deaths of those closest to him – his parents, his brother and his beloved wife, Helen, after which he’s found that his affinity for the morals of the world has gravely shifted, resulting in him bedding countless women while in a less-than-satisfying sexual relationship with his business partner, Victoria. But it’s not until the car crash and death of Natasha, one of his sexual sojourns, that Tom’s life comes to a head.
Suddenly, he’s neck deep with the Chechen mafia as well as a criminal mastermind with links to international terrorism, whilst the Australian Prime Minister is asking him to serve his country once again but this time as Chair of a new International Fraud Taskforce. Tom is left wondering if there’s more to all this than it first seems.

  • The Old World And Its Ways

“This volume is published in response to numerous requests from many sections. And my purpose is to put in permanent and convenient form the observations made during travels in the old world.

The illustrations will throw light on the subjects treated and it is believed will add much to the interest. The photographs from which they were made were collected at the places visited or taken by members of our party. Chapters one to forty-six were written from time to time during the trip around the world.”

  • Tales of Mean Streets

These stories are a brilliant evocatin of a narrow, close-knit community—that of the streets of London’s East End in the 1890s. Having lived and worked there, he knew that his East Enders were not a race apart, but ordinary men and women, scraping by perhaps, but neither criminals nor paupers. He chronicled their adventures and misadventures, their wooings and their funerals, with sympathy, humor and a sense of both the tragedies and comedies to be found in the “mean streets, ” from Lizerunt’s disastrous marriage to Scuddy Lond’s plausible but imperfect conversion and “Squire” Napper’s quickly dispersed fortune.
